Learn more about MS Roald Amundsen

The boat

The MS Roald Amundsen is 140 meters long, 23.6 meters wide, and has 11 decks, 9 of which are accessible to travellers. This ship can carry on board up to 530 passengers (500 in Antarctica).

Activities and entertainment

On board the MS Roald Amundsen, you have access to the observation deck which is on two levels, and both indoors and outdoors. It allows you to admire the landscapes and the fauna.

You can cultivate yourself at the Amundsen Science Center. This science center offers touch screens, conferences, library, biology and photography workshops. Athletes have a jogging track and a fitness room.

For relaxation, you have on board the Roald Amundsen a swimming pool, complete with a bar and two whirlpools.

Not to mention the panoramic sauna to enjoy the view of the sea.

In addition, you can make purchases (clothing, souvenirs, postcards, etc.) in the ship's shop.

Gastronomy, bars and lounges

The HX-Expeditions company has made available to passengers of the MS Roald Amundsen three restaurants, focusing on typical Norwegian gastronomy. You can therefore taste the best of local cuisine at the main dining room Aune.

And to vary the pleasures, you also have the Fredheim or Lindstrøm restaurants, on decks 6 and 9.

You can also relax in a friendly atmosphere in the Explorer lounge & bar, at the front of deck 9. This panoramic lounge, via its large bay windows, is bright and allows you to admire the landscape while sipping a cocktail.

Accommodation on board MS Roald Amundsen

For this cruise, you can select one of the Polar exterior or interior cabins, from 17 to 23 square meters, with convertible double bed or two single beds and porthole or porthole for the sea view.

For added comfort, select an Arctic Superior cab. More spacious (15 to 27 m²), some have a balcony.

Finally, the Expedition suites are very large (20 to 48 m²), luxurious and bright. Some are equipped with a balcony, sofa, and welcome gift.

Environment

MS Roald Amundsen is HX-Expeditions' first hybrid ship. Its design allows for reduced emissions, thanks to electric propulsion. This technology reduces CO2 emissions and fuel consumption by 20%.

In addition, the company has created the HX-Foundation, which organizes activities on board and ashore with the aim of raising passengers' awareness of the preservation of the environment. Specialists are also present on board during the cruise for activities, discussions and conferences.
